Three unforgettable Thriller novels by Indian Authors in.

Blood splashes, Paranoid, drug dealers, murders, investigation team, unexpected plot twist, childhood trauma, serial killer- these words stir up a different kind of emotion in me that I could barely explain. I could see so much of book recommendations and year wrap up featuring Classics, International Bestsellers and many more and I wish to do it a bit differently- to spot three Indian authors, who shook me with their thrillers. When Agatha Christie, Lee Child, Gillian Flynn, John Grisham and many others rule the thriller world, my list goes with Puneeth JH, Neelabh Pratap Singh and Aditya Mishra.  They have a few things in common: they all write thrillers, all of them are Indian authors and all their books I talk about here was published in 2020.  Here we go!

1.BOOK TITLE: THE UNSOLVED CASE OF AN INDIAN WOMAN

AUTHOR: PUNEETH JH

GENRE: PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

‘The Unsolved Case Of An Indian Woman’ is a psychological thriller with a well-constructed plot, with three stories moving in a line.   Meenu, who grew up with her grandma, moves into her parents’ home, at the age of 8.  But an unexpected tragedy hits the family.  Sneha, who is always supported by her brother-in-law, is not a matter of happiness for her sister as she doubts her.  How many times had she tried to end her life?  But then she got the contact of Krishna.  Ms. Tandel, the most famous advocate, receives threatening notes that she would be killed.  She could not file a complaint as she had no proof. Is she paranoid?  She visits a psychologist named Yogi, and he says it is her mind that is killing her.  Is it real? Or are there conspiracies going on against her?

WHY I LOVE IT?

The author entered into my favorites list because of the intriguing plots. Three stories move in line, said in parts one after another.  But I found no part unsatisfying or slow paced.  It is highly engaging right from the beginning and the plot twist is unimaginable.  I loved the way the author connects the three stories and the point of realization of the twist is breathtaking. I, personally, expected a different ending, but the author’s choice suited it more.

2 BOOK TITLE: PI AGENCY: A RASHMI PUROHIT MYSTERY

AUTHOR: NEELABH PRATAP SINGH

GENRE: CRIME THRILLER

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

Rashmi Purohit, who always wanted to become a CBI Officer, runs her own private detective agency called ‘Pi agency’ with Akshay and Dishara.  Brajesh, whose son is troubling to come out of drug addiction, hires Rashmi to find the drug dealer, whose identity is completely unknown, except the name ‘Alphalion’.  It is not like her usual jobs like blackmails or cheating spouses but this is of ‘Drug Addiction’ and Brajesh wants her to eradicate the problem.  Who is Alphalion? Could she find the mystery?

WHAT MADE ME LOVE THIS BOOK?

Inspired by the true character, the author sketched out Rashmi Purohit in a way that touched my heart through her brave steps.  The factor that makes this novel the best is the rushing plot and the undeniable writing style.  The words of the author are so alive that I could see the incidents in front of my eyes.  The story is well paced, smooth and satisfying.  The imagination of the author is beyond my expectations.

3 TITLE: SHADOWS

AUTHOR: ADITYA MISHRA

GENRE: CRIME THRILLER

BOOK SYNOPSIS:

The way Aiden kills makes us feel like it’s not new for him to kill people.  The vengeance in his heart made him so.  In the past week, he had taken 10 lives and now his blood boils to kill the other two jurors too. The 8th juror Judy was the next one to be killed by Aiden and he sliced her neck in no time! Mr. Davis, the head juror is the only one who is left.  But this time, he will kill him after introducing himself and make him regret his mistake! Getting embarrassed as he found him entering the garden, he moved to the main door with a gun in his hands. Mr. Davis opens the door… What happens next? What made him so? How his father really died? If his mother is not the killer, then who is the actual murderer?

WHY IT ENTERED MY FAVOURITES LIST?

The tone of the narrator is nerve wrecking. I had never read someone who is so revengeful that his every single word reflects it. The unexpected murder in the very first scene, captivates the readers and I couldn’t control my eagerness to know what made so dreadful and furious. The author’s imagination has attracted my reading senses. Whenever I guess the next scene, the author surprises or shock me with a sudden turn. His descriptions make the book more lively and he has also not filled the book with unwanted descriptions that usually distracts the readers from the main track.

I’m not sure how criminals plan the murder but I do know how authors think day and night to plot the murders, think how to effectively kill someone with no trace and ironically becomes the investigator to find the murderer and brain storm whom to investigate.  (You guessed it right!  I was writing a crime + psychological thriller novel).  And so I love reading Thrill reads.  Whatever might be the genre that interests you, it might be short stories or articles or novels, (or books that are too heavy to lift?) read for yourself and be happy!  I wish you all a happy and bookish 2021!
